Background Information

The JobSafe Program is designed to:
  • Educate youth about workplace health and safety issues,
  • Promote the development of a positive attitude toward safety, and
  • Give our youth a solid foundation for future workplace training.

Students will earn one high-school credit for each course that is successfully completed. In order to be JSSS accredited, students must pass each course with a 70 per cent or higher.

The JobSafe Program is developed by professionals with first-hand knowledge in health and safety issues, principles and practices. The coursework is developed so to be easily delivered in a classroom setting, each requiring approximately 25 hours of instruction. The JobSafe resources support the delivery of the following three courses:

  • Workplace Safety Managment (HCS 3000)
  • Workplace Safety Practicies (HCS 3010)
  • Agriculture Safety (AGR 3000)
Credentials

For Qualifying Schools (schools with an assigned JSSS #) only. Upon successful completion of the JSSS online program(s), students who receive 70% or better will receive a wall certificate and wallet card. To submit grades, instructors are to email info@jsss.ca and request a form for certificates.

Due Diligence: Ensuring Duty of Care

This workshop has been developed by the Job Safety Skills Society (JSSS) to assist administrators and teachers in planning and delivering safe and healthy off-campus education programs.

Delivering JobSafety in the Classroom and Beyond

This workshop has been developed by the Job Safety Skills Society (JSSS) to assist in becoming more familiar with the content and expected outcomes of the Alberta Education CTS courses: HCS 3000, HCS 3010 and AGR 3000.

Off-Campus Inspection/Approval

This workshop will address the following five procedures and processes and provide additional and related information on how, when, why and by whom each of these procedures and processes needs to be carried out.

  1. Knowing, understanding and following legislation, procedures, and practices necessary to conduct a workplace inspection.
  2. Workplace Inspection
  3. Learning Plan Development
  4. Student Monitoring and Supervision
  5. Student Assessment
