Alberta Chamber of Commerce Award of Distinction
February 3, 1999
It is our great pleasure to announce that the Job Safety Skills Society has been awarded the ALBERTA AWARD OF DISTINCTION FOR STRATEGIC PARTNERING, presented by the Alberta Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Canadian National.
In 1998 we also won the national "OSH'98 Award for Innovation in new Product or Service" presented by Southam and OHS Magazine. The Society is very pleased that the "Job Safety Skills For Young Workers Program" is achieving this extraordinary level of recognition. We are proud to have placed our materials in over 380 Alberta Schools in 1998.
We also provided one day in-service training sessions to over 180 Alberta teachers who will be instructing the Program. The high level of support that the Society can dedicate to Young Worker Safety is only possible through the support and encouragement of our Partners and Sponsors. In particular, the Award of Distinction recognized the Strategic Partnership between the Society and those of its Partners that were involved in 1997: WCB Alberta; Alberta Labor; Alberta Education; Alberta Agriculture Food and Rural Development; Canadian Hunter Exploration Ltd; Alberta Energy Company; Nova Corporation (now merged with TransCanada Pipeline); Daishowa Marubeni International; Amoco Canada Petroleum Ltd.;TransAlta Utilities Corporation; St. John Ambulance Alberta Council; Alberta Construction Safety Association; and the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering Alberta Chapter.
The Job Safety Skills Society is a unique Partnership of Industry, Education, and Government and is funded wholly and solely through corporate donations. We hope to establish Branches of the Society in every province with the ultimate aim of making the Job Safety Skills For Young Workers Program available in every high school in Canada.
